Centering

Image
"Our culture made a virtue of living only as extroverts.  We discouraged the inner journey, the quest for center. So we lost our center and have to find it again."  Anais Nin "Centering" (c) Pranita Patel 2014 And of course even after we have found our center, we may lose it, this is likely and we will have to go find our center again.  Each of us must have our own centering toolkit, whether that is meditation, going for a walk or a drive, being in nature, we each must have ways to get get back to center once we here the inner call.

Is It Love or Fear That Moves You

Image
What moves you in your life?  What makes you consider different alternatives? In general it is either the feeling of fear or love that makes us move, consider, and do.  Reflect on this in your life. If fear is the root cause of a certain action, consider how it affects your life. Ask yourself, how can I move into a place of love.  If you are able to do this, notice how that feels in your body, notice how different your thoughts and feelings are now. We all have this capacity to move from fear to love.  But we must take courage and stop and step out and do the work.

Dreaming With Mother Earth

Image
Do you hear the call of Mother Earth?  And do you respond? Do you go out for a walk?  Do you go out for a bike ride?  Do you spend time outdoors among flowers and trees and water? Have you looked up at the sky lately?  Have you seen the moon?  Have you seen a sunset or a sunrise? Have you felt the wind sweep your cheeks? Have you moved beyond the four walls of your home or your office?  So many things can keep us inside - the computer, our books, our couches, the television, our thoughts. These too have a place in our lives. But have you given nature a chance?  Have you looked up at the vast sky?  Have you noticed the horizon in the distance? Have you looked at the stars in the sky? Mother Nature is our home, it has many gifts to offer our souls, our bodies, our minds.  No matter the continent we live on, we are all part of One Big Earth Family!

Wabi-Sabi

Image
To live deeply, we must move away from this idea of perfection. The traditional Japanese perspective of wabi-sabi addresses this beautifully. Among other things, it states nothing in life is perfect. It honors the uniqueness and organic nature of life. To live a soulful life we must begin to appreciate all parts of ourselves. "When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful." -- Billie Mobayed
