Where Are The Women

Hanuman saved Sita. Kali would’ve saved herself. Two very different types of women yet goddesses in their own right.  Both can be found in me, the girl that needs saving, and the  girl that can save herself.  I am strong, I am weak, I am one when I am not the other.  Consciousness is female, it is space, the void, the emptiness out of which all arises.  Femininity is being, it is being in the wild nature of being, in the wild nature of living, it lives deep within me, to awaken it I must befriend her, the Devi, the Goddess, my feminine energy.  Nothing is activated, ignited without her presence.   Within her is the trinity, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, She creates, maintains, destorys.  All Gods bow down to Devi, Mother Goddess, Supreme Being. And yet she is lost to me, I call on her, will she come, will she let her presence be known.  I have gone on this ride before, but now I must relate to her in a different way, ...

Summer Rays

Image
The sun rides high, long towards the horizon The mind slips between rays, into shadows of a wild time We sing in time with bees, lighting bugs and butterflies Deer come down from high slopes for food and water Each day we drink from the nectar of life A prism of colors, lightening our way The mind scurries and jolts and in the afternoon sun Stops long enough for bliss to enter through silent emptiness The summer light is bright and clear The warmth a blanket sometimes to heavy and hot We remove our cloaks, bare our skins Are touched by waves of light, penetrating through to the deepest cells Our bodies glow with light and more light. Writing In Progress - My Soul's Work!

"An ordinary moonless night, the water far below her appeared dark, quiet, calm, asleep.  She stood on top of the mountain as a being of light. Light flew around her and into her, and poured out of her being. She looked behind the veil that stood between worlds.  She had experienced it before,  but today for the first time she understood it in that particular way.  This time she held on to the experience, she let it change her life, no longer comfortable in the routine, the humdrum, the rat race, she dived into the mystery of the other side, and when it was time to come back to the darkness, she made sure to not be afraid, and so the door to the other side remained open." Read This Book: When Breath Becomes Air

“That message is simple: When you come to one of the many moments in life when you must give an account of yourself, provide a ledger of what you have been, and done, and meant to the world, do not, I pray, discount that you filled a dying man’s days with a sated joy, a joy unknown to me in all my prior years, a joy that does not hunger for more and more, but rests, satisfied. In this time, right now, that is an enormous thing.”  ―  Paul Kalanithi ,  When Breath Becomes Air Paul Kalanithi has a given us a tremendous gift in this book, he has shown us how to live and die with integrity and meaning.  Go get this book and read it.

A BETTER PERSPECTIVE Either things can be solved or they need to be accepted.   Do not accept stress into your mind.

Coded In Our Blood by Pranita Patel If we were to travel back in time we would recognize members of  our family though shorter, stooped,  and hairier, in Australopithecus,  Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, as we would today if we came upon  a large silverback gorilla playing  games with his children in a dense jungle in Africa.  Without words, as if coded in our blood,  we would discern the tender caress,  behold the gaze of love. These are our  ancestral gifts, linking past to present,  beyond the bridge of our noses, the tint of  our skin, or the set of our jaw.

Breathe deeply into your roots, feel yourself being simultaneously grounded and lifted.  ~Pranita Patel Lately, I have breathing deeply all the way down to the lower reaches of my spine, and filling my whole body up with air.  I’ve been doing it at night, as I lay in bed. I am, it feels embodying my body more fully. I am being present in my body, experiencing it in a way I normally don’t experience during the day.  I breathe deep and long, sometimes I will hold my breath for a few seconds after the inhale and then slowly exhale.  I play around with my long breaths, seeing how my body feels after each one.  After a short while, I can feel my body swirling with healthy oxygen, and I can feel the oxygen reaching my brain.   When I breathe deeply, I sleep more deeply and restfully through the whole night.

CHILDHOOD FRIENDS

You may have heard, it’s the custom for kings to let warriors stand on the left, the side of the heart,  and courage. On the right they put the chancellor,  and various secretaries, because the practice of bookkeeping and written usually belongs to the right hand. In the center, the sufis, because in meditation they become mirrors. The king can look at their faces and see his original state. ~~~Rumi

Ritual

Image
Lately, I've been thinking about ceremonies and rituals in regards to life's changes big and small.  For example, the changing of houses or changing jobs or changing eating habits - how can these changes be benefitted by a ritual.  I believe our spirits are nurtured by rituals and our psyches make a shift, sometimes the shift may be so subtle that it goes unnoticed by our conscious minds, but this shift still impacts our lives.

AN ETHEREAL NOTE

Image
In the morning light, the orange tabby sits atop a chair and waits, diurnally, like the birdsong  arising from the pit of this small valley after my boyfriend goes down 22 steps to his sun- fire red  truck and  drives off to work.  What awakens the birds from slumber?  Is  it the fading light from  the last star in the sky, or the regurgitating  sound of the truck's engine.  The morning sky is gray, yet a patch of blue so light and luminescent is quilted in the western sky, an ethereal note that this day  will be good.  How many times in our lives have we needed a  whisper of beauty  to make it through, after the alarm  clock goes off once again, and  another day begins, similar to yesterday, yet different. Did the ancients experience routine in their lives? Or did they live in the mystery enough.  So that each day  they woke up,  thrilled t...

Poet David Wagoner reminding us that we are never lost!

Stand still.  The trees before you and the bushes beside you are not lost. Wherever you are is a place called Here,  And you must treat it as a powerful stranger, Must ask permission to know it and be known. The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,  I have made this place around you, If you leave it you may come back again saying Here. No two trees are the same to Raven. No two branches the same to Wren. If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you, You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows Where you are. You must let it find you. David Wagoner
